IIT Bombay e-Yantra Innovation Challenge: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay has launched the e-Yantra Innovation Challenge (eYIC 2022-23) to seek solutions for inclusive urban infrastructure. e-Yantra is a robotics program that helps young engineers solve problems using technology. The last date to register for this challenge is 25 September 2022. The team that wins this challenge will get seed funding of Rs 1 crore. Apart from this, other teams will get prizes of 25 lakhs. The e-Yantra Innovation Challenge (eYIC) is an annual competition. This competition trains a team of students to solve real world problems and build startups through MOOCs. It was started in 2014 and for the last few years around 2000 students participate in this e-Yantra Innovation Challenge every year.
The Innovation Challenge is divided into four phases. In Phase 1 the participants are given training about the theme, theme and technology. In this phase training is given to the students through live sessions by MOOCs and experts. Stage 2 is a prototyping section where teams work under e-Yantra mentorship to create a prototype of their proposed solution. Stage 3 is an innovation sprint where e-yantra helps in developing a pitch for an incubator.
The final stage is an implementation sprint, where teams refine their Proof-of-Concept (PoC) under the guidance of an e-Yantra mentor. E-Yantra provides resources, training and guidance, and traveling allowance and boarding/accommodation at IIT Bombay for finalists at IIT Bombay. The e-Yantra project is funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India and hosted in the CSE department of IIT Bombay.
