The Ukrainian army announced today, Thursday, that it has recaptured the towns that were controlled by Moscow in the regions of Kharkiv (northeast), in southern Ukraine and in the Donbass.
“The military units penetrated the defenses to a depth of fifty kilometers. During these operations carried out in the direction of Kharkiv, more than twenty towns were recovered,” said Oleksiy Gromov, an officer of the Ukrainian General Staff.
On Wednesday evening, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that progress had been made in this border region with Russia, which includes Kharkiv, the second city of Ukraine.
Gromov explained that a total of 700 square kilometers had been restored.
In the south, he asserted, “in some directions”, the Ukrainian army “has achieved a deep penetration into the defenses (within an area ranging) from two kilometers to tens of kilometers,” according to the regions. But he did not provide any geographical information at a time when the Kherson region is experiencing a Ukrainian counter-attack.
He only said, “A number of towns have been liberated.”
In the Donbass, Ukrainian soldiers took control of between two and three kilometers in the vicinity of the cities of Kramatorsk and Slovyansk, which are still under Ukrainian control, and recovered from the Russians the town of “Uzern”, according to Gromov.
