Manchester. Cristiano Ronaldo made a comeback in the starting XI but despite this Manchester United suffered a 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad in their first match of the Europa League football tournament. Star striker Ronaldo was unable to transfer to a club in the Champions League and was therefore forced to play in Europe’s second-tier tournament for the first time since 2002.

Ronaldo was last included in the starting XI in the English Premier League match on 13 August. After this he was fielded as a substitute player in four matches. United won all these four matches.
