Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who broke ties with the BJP and formed a new Grand Alliance government with RJD, on Thursday dismissed the opposition’s allegation of the return of “Jungle Raj” in the state, saying that there is no “Jungle Raj” here. ‘Janata Raj’ is going on.

He said, “If any incident has happened here, then just tell that there is any country or state in this world where no one quarrels among themselves. Some have different thinking and we are going to work. It is our duty to unite every section of the society.” Attacking senior BJP leaders in the state, he said such comments do not affect the government as it is committed to work for the people of Bihar. “If Sushil Modi (former deputy CM) or Sanjay Jaiswal (state BJP chief) criticizes me, they may get big posts in the party or the central government,” he said.

Nitish, who returned from a tour of Delhi on opposition unity, attended the program organized in Gaya on Thursday. Talking to reporters at the airport on his return to Patna from there, he said, “I met all the people I wanted to meet in Delhi. Had a very good conversation with Rahul Gandhi too. Sonia Gandhi is out of the country now, we will go to meet her when she comes to Delhi. Apart from Congress, leaders of other parties including CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML) were discussed. When we decided to part ways with NDA, leaders of many parties had called. Had a good conversation with everyone.

Nitish said, “In Bihar, when we broke away from the BJP, seven parties came together and now the BJP is the only party in the opposition here.” When asked about the West Bengal and Odisha tour, he said, “Mamata Banerjee. Talked on the phone. We will go to meet when further talks take place.

Asked about Rahul Gandhi joining Bharat Jodo Yatra, Nitish said, “He (Rahul Gandhi) is engaged in the work of his party, it is a matter of happiness. He is working in his own way. In Delhi, we have had talks about the Lok Sabha elections. If people unite in different states before the Lok Sabha elections, very good results will come. This thing has been understood by everyone, it is a very good thing.

When asked who will be the face of the opposition as prime ministerial candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Nitish said, “Everyone will decide unitedly who will be the face of the Prime Minister. We are not the face of the Prime Minister’s post. Will tell.”

Taking a dig at the Centre’s decision to rename the historic Rajpath in New Delhi to ‘Kartavya Path’, Kumar said without naming anyone, “What were they doing when the country was celebrating 75th year of independence? It should have been named after Bapu. BJP’s only job is to create unrest in the society.”
