Rumors of child-lifting gang activity stirred up two villages of Kotwali Didoli area. When a checking campaign was started in one village, in another village the crowd got jammed outside the school. The police has asked for action against those spreading rumours.
The first case is of the forest of Dhanupura village of Kotwali Didoli area. On Wednesday morning, two villagers were cutting fodder in the field located on Tawai Tirahe. They felt that three men wearing burqa had entered the sugarcane field. What was it then, they made noise due to the rumor of the child theft gang being active. On the noise, the villagers of nearby villages Chak Payati, Tawai and Dhanupura reached the forest. He conducted an hour-long search operation in several fields in the forest. But no one was found on the spot. The second case is of Nilekhedi village of Kotwali area.
At 11 am on Wednesday, outside a convent school, someone spread a rumor that a gang member had been caught outside the school. A crowd of people gathered on the information of the child thief being caught. After getting the information, the team of Dial-112 also came. But no such case came to the fore on the spot. The police personnel persuaded the villagers and sent them back. Also warned that strict action would be taken against those spreading rumours. Inspector-in-Charge Pravez Chauhan said that villagers are appealed to avoid any kind of rumours. Action will be taken against those spreading rumours.
