The awarding of the “Madrasa” platform, which is one of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s global initiatives to spread education and knowledge, was announced at the annual awards ceremony held by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, on the occasion of International Literacy Day, in the presence of Dr. Walid Al Ali, advisor in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and general coordinator of the “Madrasa” platform, and Farah Al-Azab, project manager at the Mujammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.

This is the first win for the UAE in general with this award and the only Arab one in the 2022 session, along with prominent winning countries, namely Britain and India in the category of supporting literacy for mother tongue, and Brazil, South Africa and Malaysia in the category of support for literacy for adults in rural areas.

The UNESCO Literacy Prize is the third international award for the Madrassa platform that it won in a few years after its launch, after it won the Sharjah Prize for Distinguished Educational Project and the ESCWA Prize for Arabic Digital Content for Sustainable Development for the year 2022, emphasizing the great role that the Madrasah platform offers to Arab students. .

For his part, His Excellency Salem Khalid Abdullah Al Qasimi, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), said: “The UAE has made great efforts in the field of literacy, and is committed to supporting and implementing initiatives aimed at developing educational tools, methods and platforms.
