In the coming days, the fire department will not give NOC (No Objection Certificate) directly to any commercial or institutional buildings. For this, preparations are being made to get NOC through development authorities. The fire department is preparing a proposal in this regard. The proposal is expected to be ready soon. After this it will be presented before the cabinet for approval.
According to sources, the NOC of commercial buildings is often taken from the fire department by hiding the facts. Then after showing this NOC, the map is passed from the authorities. Investigations after the fire at Hotel Levana Suites revealed that such NOCs have been given on a large scale in the state. In this, NOC was also given to the buildings which did not meet the standards.
This raised questions about the credibility of the fire department. To avoid this, the fire department is now preparing such a proposal that the responsibility of passing the map and giving NOC is not directly on the authorities, but on them.
The responsibility of the fire department will only be to see whether the prescribed standards of fire safety are met in the construction of the building or not. On the same basis the fire department will give its report to the authority, then the authority will issue NOC. Where there are no authorities, this responsibility will be given to the local bodies and district panchayats.
