PM Modi congratulates Joao Lourençu on being re-elected president of Ankola


New Delhi, Sep 15 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Joao Lourençu on his re-election as the President of the South-West African country of Angola.

The leader of “The Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola” (MPLA) Lourencsu is 68 years old. In the elections held recently, he had won by a small margin.

In a tweet, Modi said, “Congratulations to Joao Lourençu on being re-elected President of Angola. I look forward to working closely with him to further deepen bilateral ties.”

The MPLA has been in power in the country for almost 47 years.
