Disabled People Of Jammu Kashmir Brought Under The Purview Of Pension Scheme

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has said that in Jammu and Kashmir, all the disabled have been brought under the purview of the pension scheme. Earlier there was no system for physically and mentally ill people. For the first time, Jammu and Kashmir has been linked with the National Trust Portal so that they can get all kinds of facilities and rights given by the Central Government.

A special drive has been started for the registration of the differently-abled. The Social Welfare Department is working on an integrated plan so that all the beneficiaries can be reached. This has doubled the number of beneficiaries taking the benefit of pension. He was speaking at Sher-e-Kashmir Agricultural University on Friday at the distribution function of free artificial calipers as part of the birth centenary celebrations of Late Dr. Uttam Chand Shastri.

On this occasion, artificial limbs were given to 130 beneficiaries. The Lieutenant Governor said that helping people in times of need without any selfishness is the service of true humanity. It is our primary responsibility to mobilize resources for persons with disabilities. Ensure availability of infrastructure and facilities so that they can also be made equal partners in the development journey of the country.

Calling upon the people of the society and voluntary organizations to come forward, he said that the administration is working with commitment in bridging the gap between the aspirations of the citizens and administrative approach to development. Last year it was decided to distribute 4000 motorized tricycles to the differently-abled. In this, one thousand beneficiaries were given tricycles. The administration will reach the remaining beneficiaries soon.

Helpline for old people, establishment of old age wards in district hospitals

The Lieutenant Governor said that a target has been set for 100% implementation of schemes for Divyangjan, women and senior citizens. Before August 2019, the central law for the welfare of senior citizens was not applicable here which is now applicable here. Helpline has been started for the elderly. In addition, separate old age wards have been set up in each district hospital for the treatment of the elderly.

He said that there has been an increase of 206 per cent in the scholarship of children from poor families. Till 2018 only 9300 daughters had got the benefit of Ladli Beti Yojana, but in the last three years more than one lakh have got the benefit and Rs 150 crore has been sent directly to their account. Earlier 100-200 beneficiaries used to get benefit under the marriage scheme of poor daughters, but now in the last one year 9309 daughters got help of 37.15 crores.

Sanskrit opens the way to prosperity: Jagadguru Shankaracharya
