Power Cut – Power cut due to rain, hundreds of villages in the dark

Barabanki. Due to rain, trees and their branches fell at many places and electric wires were broken and many pillars collapsed. This caused the power supply to collapse. Electricity supply has been affected from city to village. Power Corporation was busy in the repair work but the fault could not be rectified at many places. Electricity supply of about 566 villages in rural areas is stalled.
Due to rain, there was no electricity throughout the night on Thursday night in Lakhpedabagh, Laxmanpuri Colony, Housing Development. There was a power cut for three hours on Friday afternoon. In many localities including Companybagh, Nehru Nagar, Civil Line, Katra, Ghosiana, electricity continued to come and go throughout the day. About three lakh population was affected by this.
The power of Ramnagar division remained out since morning. The power supply of the town could be started in the evening. But about 80 villages could not get electricity supply till evening. The power supply of about 150 villages was disrupted due to falling of trees at many places in Haidergarh area. Transformer’s pole fell in Manodharpur. Due to this, two lakh population is facing problems due to power outage.
In Dariyabad, the main line wire broke due to falling of trees near Samaraiya Chamran village. The power supply of the town was started but the power supply of 76 villages was stopped. Electricity supply did not start till evening in about two hundred villages of Nindura area due to falling of trees in the main line. Water flooded in Zaidpur power house.
The engine had to be used to drain the water. Trees fell on the main line near Pipratha forest and the power lines were snapped. Half an electric pole broke near Bibiyapur Rani Katra village of Kotwadham area, disrupting the power supply of 60 villages.
Superintending Engineer AH Khan says that there has been more damage in Ramnagar, Haidergarh due to rain. Reports of wire breakage and pole damage have been called for. Instructions have been given to all the Executive Engineers and SDOs to continuously monitor and repair the faults and supply power.
