Date:

LONDON, Sep 17 (AP) The English Premier League (EPL) football competition has resumed as Fulham and Aston Villa win their matches after Queen Elizabeth II remained silent and paid tribute to her.

At the City Ground, Nottingham Forest coach Steve Cooper and Fulham coach Marco Silva paid floral tributes to the Queen on behalf of their teams.

On the other side the lighting was dimmed in Villa Park and tributes were paid to the Queen. Later the song ‘God Save the King’ was sung in front of players from Aston Villa and Southampton.

In both these matches, when the game reached in the 70th minute, the audience stood up and applauded in memory of the Queen. The Queen died last week after assuming the throne for 70 years.

After falling behind in the first half, Fulham scored three goals in six minutes to beat Nottingham Forest Ho 3-2, while Aston Villa beat Southampton 1-0.
